At Big Meaty’s, we enjoy good food and a good time. Hopefully, what we bring to the table here will allow you to do the same.
Don’t you hate those food sites where you go looking for a recipe and the author spend an eternity telling you a story that in no way relates to the recipe. Then you have to scroll way down in order to get to the recipe and often times get blasted by ads, popups, or there’s so much going on that you cant find the recipe – which is what you came for. While there may be stories to tell, we want to provide the recipe you came for (or other pertinent information we may be sharing). If you chose to stay for the story, great. We won’t let our boring lives get in the way of providing you with what you came here for in the first place. Our format will always put the availability of the recipe first, so you can get the information you need to make delicious foods and go on about your day without being forced into story time with Big Meaty (there’s no one here named Big Meaty…at least, not yet).
Big Meaty’s inception began as part of a group of people getting together for a car meet. I decided to take my electric smoker so we could all partake in some delicious smoked meats. With each year came more cooking toys and way better meats to enjoy. Since we enjoy cooking so much and the group appreciates my efforts, I continue to explore ways to come up with different recipes and ideas for how to make delicious meats and various other recipes. We just figured why not share some of that information with the world and document the processes along the way.
The primary focus will be on various barbecue foods, as well as barbecue as a way of cooking. However, we will not be limited to that, as there are so many other ways to make delicious food. To make such deliciousness, you need a variety of cooking implements. Some of what you’ll see here include (but not limited to) the grill, smoker, slow cooker, and instant pot. As implements are used, we’ll share our experiences with different equipment. The plan is to share recipes that I enjoy in hopes that someone out there will also enjoy and make their own. I always look at a recipe as a starting point and an opportunity to create something delicious based on my own tastes and those with whom I’m sharing.
No good food comes without a few failures along the way. I want to share the failures as well as the successes. I’m not an expert and sometimes, things don’t work out. I’m not trained in any way, except in my own kitchen. Some techniques work and others don’t. At the end of the day, I’m just a fat guy that likes to eat.
Stay tuned.
