If there’s anything I can’t stand, its dry meat. I have this problem with poultry, especially. I’ve heard of people doing this before with water bottles. This spray adds a nice hint of sweetness along with subtle notes of the flavoring of whatever scotch you use. While you don’t have to use the scotch, it does add some good flavor.
By the way, is it me or does it sound a little pretentious when people say things like ‘subtle notes’? You get hints, not ‘subtle notes’. There. I said it. None of that snobby, pretentious language for us.
I tend to use this about once every hour or so when I’m smoking a pork shoulder or a chicken on the rotisserie. Be mindful of the wood you’re using on the smoke, as a mesquite wood with an apple spray may not combine well. But I haven’t tried it, so may it’s good.
I suppose if you omit the scotch, its just “Apple Spray”. Call it what you like. The results are delicious!
